Certified Firefighter - Lateral Firefighter; Experienced Candidate

• Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Minimum age: 18
  • Firefighter I & II certification (Tennessee Commission on Firefighting, IFSAC, or ProBoard)
  • Minimum 320-hour basic firefighter academy required. Proof of completion must be submitted through official documentation, such as a certificate clearly stating total hours or an academy transcript. Informal or handwritten letters will not be accepted.
  • Current EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic license in TN or valid out-of-state license with eligibility for TN reciprocity

Fire Cadet - Entry-Level; No Experience Required

• Minimum Requirements:
  
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Minimum age: 18
  • No prior fire or EMS experience required
  • Must complete a basic firefighter training academy and obtain a TN EMT license within two (2) years of hire
  • Upon completion of requirements, Cadets are promoted to Certified Firefighter and receive a salary increase per City of Franklin compensation policies.
