The Franklin Fire Department does far more than fight fires. We deliver comprehensive emergency services, protect our growing community, and use innovative technology to serve one of the best places to live and work in America.

Emergency Medical Services

We are an Advanced Life Support agency that responds to medical emergencies throughout the city. Every front-line apparatus is an ALS unit, which means at least one paramedic is on board and ready to provide high-level pre-hospital care when it matters most.

Special Operations

Our Special Operations Division is an all-hazards team trained to respond to some of the most complex emergencies. Personnel complete extensive, ongoing training in disciplines that include swiftwater rescue, hazardous materials response, search and rescue, and both high-angle and low-angle rope rescue. When an incident is technical or high-risk, this team is ready.

Drone Team

The Franklin Fire Department received FAA authorization to operate drones as part of emergency incident response. Drones provide critical aerial information at structure fires, hazardous materials incidents, search and rescue scenes, and major events.

Cutting Edge Tech

Innovative technology and equipment play a major role in how we serve our community. One recent example is our emergency vehicle preemption program. Developed in Franklin through a partnership with Neutron Edge and Cisco, it is the first of its kind in the world. The system uses GPS to identify the best route and adjust traffic signals in advance, creating a safer, faster path for responding units. In some areas, it has improved response times by up to two minutes, while enhancing safety for both the public and our crews.

Honor Guard

The FFD Honor Guard represents the department at ceremonies, funerals, memorials, and community events. The team upholds tradition and honors those who have served with dignity and respect.

Arson Investigations & More

Through our Fire Marshal’s Office, we conduct inspections, review building plans, and investigate the origin and cause of fires. Our work ensures that new development and existing buildings meet fire and life safety standards, helping safeguard people, property, and the qualities that make Franklin a great place to live and work.
